Hi sapphos, I am 26 years old, female, a practicing Christian, single, no children. I have a 10 year old goddaughter & 2 dogs.

This is Diogi (pronounced D-O-G, like DOG), he'll be 7 this year.

This is my other dog Buzzy, I realize that the jacket in this picture is way too small, he was modeling some inventory for my friend's pet store.

I currently live in East Nashville but am originally from Cottontown, TN in Sumner County. I really like living in the city & all of the conveniences it has to offer, but I miss the land where I'm from & I miss seeing the stars at night. My goal is to have a piece of property within an hour of Nashville that I can build a small house on & can get away to on the weekends, but I'd like to keep my house in the city for sure.

I would say that my biggest hobby is cooking, I absolutely love to cook & get great enjoyment from cooking for friends & family. I also like to eat, so if you consider dining out & trying different restaurants a hobby, then I'm all over that one

Courtney

You know, I'm surprised we don't have one of these threads in the Nashville forum yet. I'll be curious to read others' responses since I feel like I've gotten to know a number of folks here but don't really know much about them at all!

Where are you from originally?

Born here in greater Nashville, lived here all my life.

Where do you live now?

Hendersonville

Single?
Married no kids?
Married with kids?

Married with a preschooler and another on the way.

What do you like most about Nashville?

Hard to pick just one thing. I enjoy the diversity...we have all kinds of diverse entertainment options, diverse beliefs, diverse ethnicities. There really is something for everyone here if you're willing to look for it. I also like being big enough to have all the bigger city benefits (culture, arts, entertainment) but small enough where we don't seem to have as many of the big city problems (rampant corruption/crime, hour-long traffic). Finally, I think the floods showed that we are really a city that takes care of its own. I still get goosebumps when I read the "We Are Nashville" blog article...that is so true. I am constantly amazed at the resiliency and kindness of this town.

What do you like least about Nashville?

That's easy...public transportation here is laughable. I'd love to see more light rail to the suburbs. I'm not expecting we'll have subways and metro-rail in the city, but I can't imagine that light rail from the halo counties to downtown wouldn't be a success. Especially with gas now creeping over $3. There are other things that grate on my nerves here (pop country music, driving habits, the occasional redneck) but nothing too major.

Any interests?

History, baseball (Reds), football (Bengals and Vandy...glutton for punishment), reading, food (cooking and going out)

OPTIONAL: Do you consider yourself religious?

Yes. I am active in a church. Raised in the church as well.

OPTIONAL: What other places have you lived?

Just suburbs of Nashville: Madison, Goodlettsville, Mt. Juliet

You know, Nashville is quietly becoming recognized as a foodie town. And not just "southern" cuisine either!

Where am I from: Grew up in Denver, Husband is from the burbs of DC.

Where do you live now: Green Hills

Married with 1 kid, kid is in preschool.

Like most about Nashville: Laid back way of life, low cost of living, people are nice, weather is moderate, it's a good town to raise a family in.

Like the least: echoing DonCorleone on some points...lack of public transportation (having lived in Philly where we didn't own a car the entire time we lived there.) There also seem to be a lot of bad drivers, as in no turn signals, speeding, and doing other dumb stuff in general. Overall, I don't have too many complaints though.

Interests: Food (we're big time foodies), natural health/healthy living, vegetarianism, Sports (college and Pro), travel, running.

Religion: Growing up I went to church every Sunday, however do not go now. I do consider myself a Christian though and don't feel whether a person goes to church or not makes them a better Christian/person than another.

Other places I've lived: Philadelphia most recently (2005-July 2010), also Dallas and Chicago. We were in Nashville for 6 years prior to moving to Philly.

Where are you from originally?
Los Angeles

Where do you live now?
White Bridge/Hillwood (West-ish Nashville)

Married no kids
Just (too many) cats

What do you like most about Nashville?
The greenery, schizophrenic weather, the critters . . . the enviro-stuff that's novel to a
Southern Californian

What do you like least about Nashville?
Its proximity to large concentrations of folks who don't believe in bio-evolution and don't support cultural evolution. (It's a cliche, I know.)

Any interests?
Too boring to mention. I'm a repressed creative type who expends my limited energy at work (record company) so what's left is spent reading, sewing, puttering, and my fave--napping with cats. I hope to work with animals in some capacity when I'm semi-retired. I've not yet been able to convince myself or my husband that napping with cats qualifies as "working with animals."

Do you consider yourself religious?
I consider myself atheist, agnostic when I'm feeling charitable, and would choose Buddhism if forced to pick a cult.

Where do you live now? Germantown area of Nashville
Married with kids? Yes but do dogs count? 2 Basenjis and a Beauceron
What do you like most about Nashville? Friendliness, Positive Attitudes, Unique neighborhoods, cheap airfare at BNA, the city parks, and much more.
What do you like least about Nashville? Like Don C, Public Transportation! It's horrible. I also dislike that the city grew mostly in the post war suburban period so while every thing is pretty new and shiny there aren't a lot of good, dense, and walkable areas.
Any interests? Francophone culture, socialism, human rights, greenpeace, pets, Cooking, trying new food/restaurants, art, music, etc lol..
OPTIONAL: Do you consider yourself religious? Not really.
OPTIONAL: What other places have you lived? Hendersonville, TN. Berea, KY. Martin, TN. Orléans, France. Locminé, France. Azé, France. Venansault, France. Tsuru, Japan.

Where are you from originally? Murfreesboro, TN
Where do you live now? Murfreesboro, TN
Single? Yes
What do you like most about Nashville? I can't really think of anything I like.
What do you like least about Nashville? Same as Murfreesboro: Miserable summers.
Any interests? Cycling, illustration, science, chess, history, wood working, reading
OPTIONAL: Do you consider yourself religious? Not at all.
OPTIONAL: Nowhere else, but hopefully that will change before summer really gets underway.

Edit: I can't really figure out what the poll at the top is for?

Originally, I was born in Detroit...but moved to TN in 8th grade

I currently live in Edgefield in East Nashville

I've had a partner for 9 yrs no kids and currently no pets...but that will change soon (pets not kids)

I have lots of interests and I take advantage of everything I can and I like doing things with my friends and family.

Religious no, Christian yes. I don't attend church regularly though.

I've lived in Michigan, Mississippi and Tennessee....Tennessee is my favorite so far

What I like most about Nashville is that people are polite and generally have a positive outlook.

I'll echo the lack of good public transport and lack of density as a weakness. I think they are working on the transportation issue but it takes time.
