I finally, with hubby help, got the irises dug up, shared and replanted. In between I planted winter pansies. Love their little faces!

Day lilies? In December no need to cut, just grab the leaves and yank, old and green. Any existing foliage is about to die off anyway, so throw caution to the wind and just rip the leaves off. They love the abuse. It's easier too.

Thanks, Dave, for the day lilly advice!

While others are moaning about the rain we're getting, I love it for our two new trees - a Mountain Ash and a Redbud.

I don't believe we will have any sort of winter this year. I keep looking at my Crape Myrtles and knockout roses and imagine myself with a some nice big sharp clippers. Might have to watch Edward Scissorhands again for inspiration.

My question involved POINSETTIA plants. I have a couple still in good shape from Christmas. When I lived in Australia, I noticed big poinsettia BUSHES that bloomed in July (their coldest month). Can I just plant these puppies and see what happens????

Spring is coming around AGAIN!!!!

(Hi Dave! Happy New Grass Growing Season!)

I saw some starting to come up in one of my flower beds . . . but they'll probably get blown away tonight.

My knock out roses are a mess. Straggly and not shaped and kinda sad looking. WHEN is the best time to prune them and are there any rules? I paid much more attention to my crape myrtles last year and not the roses. Any tips most welcome . . .

Thanks!

seems we might be getting close to the time to use the pre emergent. I am already seeing some of the weeds starting to come out again. Is it about 3-4 weeks later we do the fertilizer?

Default Help help help!

While I wasn't looking, over the winter, a whole GAGGLE of weeds moved into my back yard. There are two kinds - these guys and then some sort of creeper things that are low to the ground and spread out . . looks like oregano but it's not. Anyway, I'd say at least 50% of the small backyard (all fenced in, they must have climbed over) is FULL of these creepy WEEDS!

My neighbor said there's this weed killer/fertilizer/grass seed pellet combo thing I can sprinkle around. Does this sound like a plan? Is it too early to do it now? Today?

HEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!:ma d:

bumping back up as I have those too. Anyone put zoysia in for their grass. I read it uses a lot less water and spreads choking out weeds. Sort of reminds me of St Augustine when I was in Dallas. Loved that grass. Anyone know where I can get some zoysia? Not those infomercial 1" plugs but the normal pallets.
