Ohmygoodness, Dave,

How horrible. I don't feel so bad now. It's mild here for now.

Love your picture of the emerging cicada.

I don't want to hear that they are around till mid June. We are going to the CMA Music Fest for the first time. Maybe they won't get into LP Field without a ticket.

They're really more fascinating than anything else. But, of course, they haven't gotten themselves all stirred up into an erotic frenzy yet.

You'll probably be ok at the Fest, most will be gone by then. And Courtney, you're ain't that far away, darlin'. Ha.

I am officially grossed out . . do you think my "Protected by ADT" signs will ward them off?

I went and looked at my 'yard dirt' and don't see anything that looks like this. They come up from the ground, you say?

If it's any indication, my Protected by ADT sign is only about 15 feet from this photo location, so, NO. Ha. Oh well, they'll come, sing, mate and die and we'll be done with it. Just laugh about it.

The only precaution I'm doing is wrapping a young dogwood in cheesecloth to keep the females from splitting open its little branches. Other than that, I'll just turn the tv.

Still nothing here. I'm going to be majorly disappointed if we don't get them. I'm seeing plenty of holes that I thought were cicada holes, but nothing is emerging. I hope those holes aren't something else.

You can come and get mine. Or I can sweep 'em up and ship 'em off to you.
