Can anyone suggest a small town or neighborhood in the Nashville area for a single middle-aged AA female? I work in the clerical field, so rents must be reasonable.

There are a range of options...what are you looking for in a town or neighborhood? Do you have a job waiting here, or any leads? What sort of proximity would you like to your place of work? Apartment or rental house? What price range would be reasonable for you?

What would you consider a reasonable rent range? 1 bedroom 1 bath? Pets? How do you spend your free time? Do you like to hike, shop, bike, etc? Do you have any idea where you would be working? That would make a huge impact on where you decide to live, nashville is a very large area.

Small? Unless you're looking for small towns (which are mostly 20+ miles outside the center of Nashville), most all of what there is would be suburban and growing (potentially high traffic) areas. As such, I think you can find some nice apartments in the Smyrna area (it is suburban though), and even find homes for rent in some of the small neighborhoods in that area. Good luck.

Pegram, Ashland City, Ridgetop, Millersville, Greenbrier and Nolensville would qualify as small towns...they are right around 20 miles away...but suburbia is creeping closer every day (especially around Nolensville). I wouldn't count the "towns" in Davidson County, because with several of them, you can barely tell when you've left Nashville and entered them (other than street signs).

I agree that Smyrna is probably a good place to start looking.

Smile Community

The location question is better answered by the above ppl., but I would like to point out the obvious; that there are a lot of genuinely helpful folks who represent a largely caring and upward moving city currently on this site. That might tell you something about the neighbors you can expect in the areas they recommend.
