We had a severe thunderstorm here yesterday and straight line winds did a lot of damage to my trees. I have many very large limbs down in my yard. I need to hire someone to cut up the limbs and place them next to the street for pickup, but I have no idea who I might call about this kind of thing or what it might cost. I'm hoping for some suggestions or recommendations. Thanks!

Just googled "tree removal Nashville" and got a couple hits but you might want to Google yourself with wherever you live. Might find something closer. I have NO IDEA how much it would cost . . let us know!

Most reputable lawn care services should be able to easily take care of that for you.

When I had a very large oak tree drop a huge limb, Mike Hite with Creative Tree took care of the tree removal for me.

I thought he and his crew did a good job at a fair price.

Not sure if he would be interested in a small job (cutting up fallen tree limbs) but it could be worth a try.

(I realize this is an old thread, but thought that the information might help someone on a future search.)

Here's his company website: CREATIVE: Tree Service Specialists (615) 642-TREE

Check your local city solid waste or public works department also for their regulations on storm clean-up.

Brentwood, for example, sends the chipper crew around monthly to chip up yard debris (branches etc.)

HOWEVER, if you hire a private tree trimmer to cut down a tree or even chop up a tree that has fallen, they must haul off all their trimmings and logs. It should be included in the price they charge you. The city will not pick up logs or branches that were cut by a private crew and left on the curb.

If you clean up branches and yard debris yourself, stack it curbside and the city will pick it up.

The lady next door (here in Franklin) had her way overgrown Bradford Pear tree trimmed. WHAT A MESS!! The tree guys left piles of branches and limbs in her tiny yard and was amazed the next day when (on our regular) garbage pick up day, the public works guys (who pick up the paper bags with garden clippings, etc) took about half of the debris (that was closest to the curb)! HUGE limbs! Not sure if Franklin just does it or if the guys were bored . . . but they did it!

Franklin will pick up everything and anything. Almost. When I lived there, I was always amazed at the stuff they would haul away.

Of course, they have the city trash service, which is paid for by residents through taxes and fees. Brentwood does not have city trash service.

Just curious, but how will they know if you did it yourself or if you hired someone to do it?

They can tell by the fact that the stump is usually ground up. Very few homeowners have their own stump grinders.

But if your tree trimmers don't haul away their own mess, you got ripped off.
