Default A few questions about Mt. Juliet...

Hello,

My wife and I are considering a move to Mount Juliet. She's been offered a fantastic promotion and I've been looking for an excuse to get out of Florida for years now. We chose the Mt Juliet area because it will be close to her work, it's rural, the schools seem to be pretty good (we have an 8-year old girl) We also liked it because Mt Juliet gets such high praise from people she knows who already live there.

My questions might seem kind of silly, but I'm just trying to get a better understanding of how things work. If we decide to accept the promotion we might have to be there by November, which leaves us very little time to buy a home and get settled in.

1. Mount Juliet property looks fantastic, at least in our opinion since we're hoping for an acre or so and a decently sized home (2000-3000 sqf), but most of the homes all seem to have septic tanks opposed to city sewer. How often does someone from Mount Juliet get their septic tank serviced and what type of price range does something like that cost?

2. I have a few possible job opportunities in downtown Nashville, mostly over on the SW side of town. If we bought a home just inside the Wilson county border, am I looking at a painful drive into and back from work everyday?

3. I can't help but notice those two beautiful lakes on the map. Does everyone rush out to these lakes in the summer and party all day long, or can a family still get out there on a weekend and find some peaceful fishing spots?

Will you be working somewhere in the West End area? I guess it's subjective, but yeah, I think the drive would be fairly painful. It's around 20+ miles. If there was no traffic it would be a breeze, but that's not realistic.

The lakes are huge, so you are going to find plenty of both. Just don't go with the mentatlity that there won't be anyone partying and you should be fine.

If you have the septic it is recommended that it should be cleaned every 3-5 years. I just had mine cleaned the first time after 9 years cost me $225.00. I didn’t have any problems I just figured it may be a good idea. You will have to watch what you put in it more than regular sewer but septic system works fine. I hate subdivisions and developments so we always lived out in the country never had any problems with our septic tank or field.

From Mt Juliet depending on what part you live in you have a few choices going to downtown. Traffic can get heavy around rush hour. The BEST way to go would be with the NEW TRAIN that goes from Lebanon to Downtown and it stops in Mt. Juliet. Music City Star

I live on the east side of Percy Priest Lake (the one on the south side of Mt. Juliet) we have a boat in the Marine close to our home. On weekends there are lots of boats but there are MANY coves where you can park, fish and swim without anyone coming close to you. On weekdays very few boats are out so after work it is peaceful.

You will like Mt Juliet if you decide to move there.

Thank you both for the quick replies. I always assumed the tank had to be serviced more than once a year, but every 3-5 years is not bad at all. I guess like everyone else, I will just have to get used to the commute as there seems to be a price to pay for being lucky enough to live out in the country somewhat. I grew up in Pennsylvania fishing every single day as a young boy, but I try to avoid it down here in Florida because it just doesn't have the same appeal as fresh water fishing. I am really excited about getting a second chance in life to enjoy one of my all time favorite recreational activities.

We looked in Mt. Juliet too and I absolutely fell in love with a house there--do a MLS search for Lone Oak Rd. There is a stretch of 5 new houses there--4 bedroom, 3 car garage, the most amazing bonus room I have ever seen, and 1.5 acre lot. These properites are pretty close to I-840 so that may help your commute time but I'm not sure on that. It is in pretty rural part of Mt. Juliet but I was told the schools are good. We met the builder and my husband was very impressed with him. The only reason I am not already planning on moving into one myself is my husband wanted more land so we are getting an older home on 9 acres on Murfreesboro Road.

I have searched all over Wilson and Sumner County and those houses were the ones I was more impressed with.

Good luck on your relocation.
