Looking for locally made ice cream parlors. MUST MAKE THEIR OWN ICE CREAM! Not Ben & Jerry's or Baskin Robbins. In CT there were quite a few places that pretty much were just open for cones in the summer. All sorts of wonderful 'fresh' flavors, "real" ingredients.
Any good unique family run or at least fairly small ICE CREAM places?
I used to like Sweet CeCe's but now that it's a huge chain I 'feel' differently towards it? That and the fact that I THOUGHT I was being careful and ended up with $8 worth of frozen yogurt! I didn't even put anything heavy on it! I think they should offer smaller cups . . .

There's a new Ice Cream shop here in East Nashville called Jeni's. It's actually based out of Ohio...but it's organic and has really unique flavors. This is their first store outside of Ohio...so it's not a huge chain. A friend went the other day and said it was the best ice cream she's ever had....and she's had a lot of different kinds...so I'm looking forward to trying it. Probably this weekend

I love the Ice Cream at Hot & Cold in Hillsboro Village. I think they use the same as Jeni's. I've had Cherry-Goat Cheese, Lavender, and Mexican

If it wasn't already 9PM . . . that page is YUMMY! I just read an article in the Cincinnati magazine and it had you dropping some of that bourbon ice cream into some pale ale beer for an 'adult' float. Wow. Why not? A beer float . . . hmmm.

^ I second the Pied Piper recomendation. Also, have you been to Las Paletas in 12South? It's not ice cream, but homemade popsicles with lots of variety. Really good stuff.

Well...I didn't make it to the weekend. I just got back from Jeni's. I got a scoop of Butter Almond Brittle (I think that's the name). I'll describe that one as ice cream crack...I'll be getting that one again. The other was Gravel Road. A salty carmel with smoked almonds. Very interesting and yummy as well. All in a homemade waffle cone. I came close to getting Strawberry Buttermilk. I think that one's next. Probably not a good idea that I've discovered this place.
