Where to buy near Nashville area?
Hi,
I have been reading posts for awhile now and decided to join in. My husband, 8 year old daughter and I just visited Nashville area this last weekend and loved it. We visited Hendersonville, Mt. Juliet, Lebanon, Gallatin, Murfreesboro, Hermitage, and Smyrna. It was quite overwhelming. There is so much new construction homes to see in this area. Anyway, it is kind of hard to know where is the best place to live. We want the rolling hills, good schools, low crime, nice neighbors, etc. I also have two older boys 19 and 18 which I don't know if they will move with us also yet. I am in love with Tennessee and cannot wait to move. We just have to find my husband a job. He is in the flooring industry. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

If you want a low-crime area check out the racial demographics, sad but true.
Williamson country is the best in the state but there are several others. Murfreesboro is a nice town but there isn't much to do and it's a college town. Symna, I don't really know about.

Murfreesboro is a pretty good place. I've heard that the schools are good. Here is a link that should take you to info on schools in Rutherford County:
http://www.rcs.k12.tn.us/rc/schools/...s_frameset.htm
Also here is the local paper link: www.dnj.com
That can help you look for jobs, housing, and see what is going on. There isn't a lot of crime there. Although it is a town with a college (Middle Tennessee State University), it's not really what I would call a college town anymore. There are many families that have moved to the area- that is why it is one of the fastest growing cities. Depending on what you like to do, there is a lot of stuff to do in Murfreesboro. There is much more there than in Smyrna. But not too many rolling hills down that way. It's pretty flat for the most part.

For a university the size of UTK you certainly don't realize it's a college town unless you're at the apartment complexes around campus. They are not very many bars or anything like that... it's almost strangely silent.

And Fairview. I know it's not part of the wealthy part of Williamson County (which is probably why it's often overlooked) but Fairview is a nice little town in Williamson County.

We live in Fairview and we enjoy it a great deal. Fairview is going to be the next big growth spot in Williamson County. People that have bought here are going to see home values increase for the foreseeable future. Fairview is a short drive into downtown Nashville. The school system in Williamson County is the best in the state. I think if you are looking for a country setting in the wealthiest county in the state, Fairview would be a great choice while the homes are still affordable.

Yes, Williamson County is a solid choice. Great schools, very low crime, rolling green hills, plenty of high-end shopping and dining, etc. Worth a look if your husband's commute would be reasonable.

Please check into Sumner County as well. Hendersonville and Gallatin are nice towns. Lots of wide open spaces, and less traffic (IMO)
