I haven't been lucky enough to see Deana or Taylor out. If I did, I would be spittin' more game than Xbox. Those chicks are FINE!

When Taylor Swift was just getting started her grandfather (or father, I can't remember) was sending out e-mails to everyone he knew asking people to please help support his daughter's career in any way they could. Little did anyone know then what she would turn into.

Thanks for the insight! I will check into Creekside - it sounds nice. How wonderful to be building a new house. All brick sounds great - we have that now and love both the look, strenght and of course, the low maintenance.
We are moving from Raleigh, NC. I love North Carolina - We have been here for almost 15 years but I grew up in Minnesota. I don't miss those super cold, super long winters a bit. I love living in the south and I'm thinking that I will like Tennessee also. We feel really fortunate to have the lifestyle that we have in Raleigh - housing costs are so low here! It is hard to give up even a little of what we have here but believe me, I'm trying!!! I would love to recreate our lifestyle and house from Raleigh somewhere in the Nashville area! Wish me luck! IDEAL: all brick, 4 br/3 ba, 2800 sq. ft. +,
1 acre wooded lot, not too far out for commute, great schools, near some shopping...! Yikes. I'll have to keep you posted on how that works out. lol!
All the best to you as you relocate from NY to TN. That sounds like a big change to me. City to Country! Wow. Genuinely hope you love your new place and life.
BTW, my two kids are 6 and 3. They are such a joy when they are not driving me crazy...hehehehe...!!!

Hendersonville commute to Oak Hill area further south (near the zoo?)

There is soccer, baseball, basketball, dance/gymnastics, horseback riding...Awesome parks, including Moss Wright Park (which might actually be right over the Goodlettsville line), Drakes Creek, and I can't remember the name of the wood park but my kids LOVE it. Great people, beautiful area, good schools... There are still some great mom and pop places.

Southern Star,
You have made Hendersonville sound like a really nice place to live. Just wondering if you have insight on traffic/commute times going into Nasvhille (9a to5p). My husband will be driving daily all the way south to the Oak Hill area near the Nashville zoo. What do you think?
I'm not sure he's willing to drive super far. He said he's willing to do a 45 minute commute but I'd hate to see his time get eaten up on the road...
But your post was so positive and included so many of the things I enjoy in our current life in Raleigh. Horses, MOPS, soccer, PARKS, church activities, etc...!
Any add'l info. on the commute from anyone else who wants to chime in is much appreciated. So far, we are looking at Mt. Juliet/Old Hickory and/or Brentwood/Franklin. Mt. Juliet seems to be 35-40 minute commute which is lengthy but I have to give up a lot if we choose Williamson Cty (20-25 minute commute). Wilson Cty is more reasonable for housing and Hendersonville sounds good too. Any thoughts...?

Hi Amber. It is going to be a "big" move for us. We (hubby & I) have both lived on Long Island our whole life so it will be a change... but one we are really looking forward to We are far out from the "City" where we are now, so that does help. Hendersonville actually has more shopping, dining, ect. then our town here. But it will still be a big change, different way of living! We can't wait
Good luck in your search... I'm sure you will find your happy place
If you don't mind me asking, why are you relocating? Sounds like you are very happy where you are...

We are very happy with our LIFE here but my husband is VERY unhappy with his JOB here. He is working for a conservative company that is very restrictive - lots of politics - bad atmosphere - unethical practices - etc. He has been looking for a new job since middle of last year but hasn't found anything locally. So, just recently we decided to expand our search nationally. A great opportunity came up in Nashville and together we decided to go for it! Especially since work every day was taking up so much of his mental energy leaving him drained. It it is well worth changing our location for a better situation for him. So, Nashville, here we come!

Hmmm, we've been here for more than 10 years, and we'd never leave. Having said that, you need to know what to expect. H'ville is a young city, incorporated in 1968, and never had a traditional core. It has a Main Street (US 31 E) that was widened in the 1950s to coincide with the opening of Old Hickory Dam (lake). That was the first wave of growth, and the 1960s and 70s saw boom times. Lots of homes were built on the lake during that time. During the 80s, the area's growth slowed somewhat, but certain areas built during that time are among the most beautiful neighborhoods in town. Cherokee Woods, Hidden Lake, extensions of Indian Lake Forest, and Cumberland Hills. The 90s saw a resurgence of commercial development and neighborhoods in formerly outer areas, like Country Hills and Station Camp areas. Now, there is lots of commercial of all kinds, and still a great cross section of home prices/styles. The public schools are good to very, very good. Indian Lake peninsula would have the best in the county, and Walton Ferry over to Station Camp, Cages Bend areas have good ones as well. The latter have newer, and very upscale homes. The expressway to Gallatin has made that area of the county ripe for major growth. It's already started with the Indian Lake Village and all that at the 386 exit.

Where can you find older homes on the lake? ... homes that need work but at a reasonable price.
