Default cell phone service

Hi, we are planing on moving to the Nashville area next summer. We have AT&T cell phone service right now here in Fl. but are still under contract. We would like to know what cell phone company has the best reception out in that area since when we move our cell phones will be our only phones. We are not planing on getting a land line phone.
Thank you all for all your help.

It's something you shouldn't consider until after you arrive in Nashville. Your AT&T phone should work just fine, and they can provide a new, local number after the move, but don't let them renew your contract. Then, when you get settled into your permanent location, do your shopping among carriers. It would be a shame to sign up for a carrier now, then find they have a dead spot at your new home.

When you're ready to shop for a new carrier (and also see if AT&T can earn your continued business), check out the How to Switch Cellular Carriers web page.

How about T-Mobile service? I realize T-Mobile is usually pretty good in city-locations, but it tends to be poor in the suburbs. I'm mostly concerned with the Brentwood/Franklin area.

Thanks.

We have had AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon since moving here from FL. The one that seems to have the least dead zones for us is Verizon. I travel from the Sneed Rd./Hillsboro Rd. area to Brentwood, and then into Bellevue/West Meade a lot, and have quite a few areas where I'm unreachable, unless I'm using my son's Verizon phone.

Thank you all very much for answering me so fast. We are more than likely going to be moving to the Smyrna area. So good cell coverage is very important. I live here in the Tampa Bay area and our cell coverage is excelent. But I don't want to sign another contract just yet for fear I won't have good coverage up there.

Verizon is the only way to go. The only dead spot I've ever encountered is on Holly Tree Gap Road between Brentwood and Bellevue. Forget about Cingular or T-Mobile, they won't give you anything except more bad calls than last year's college football refs. Sprint will give you great service in town, but take it more than five miles from a major highway and you'll have less bars than a dry county.

Also, Verizon has more subscribers in Nashville than any other carrier, and Verizon-to-Verizon calls are all free. As annoying as their commercials are, it really is all about the network.

Default Verizon or Bust

I'm on the road all over Nashville and surrounding areas and Verizon is by far the best service...everyone I know who uses another service complains...I don't have any problems...

I vote Verizon also. T-Moble and Nextel both let us out of contracts for not providing usable signal strength outside Dickson area.

I have Cingular/AT&T, and I've had no problems at all.

I dumped T-Mobile as soon as I could. I couldn't get decent reception in my house.

Verizon gets my vote too. Spend a fair amount of time driving through various areas but office in Brentwood, lots of travel in the surrounding areas.
