Dennys, could be, as they were rumored to be very deep in talks with Shoney's landlord, before Rio Bravo swooped in. Personally, the chain I think could do well in town that is never seen as interested is IHOP. Rivergate IHOP is far enough away to merit one here.

It does look like a bank. That's ridiculous. That corner lot was a prime location for a restaurant or something else. Just another bank to add to Bank/Apartmentville.

It definitely is big enough to be a bank. Seems like when they first built it was fairly small, but I guess they hadn't framed it out fully. Kind of disappointing to hear that is what it could be but I am not surprised.

I noticed yesterday that there will be a Firehouse Subs going into the new small shopping center across the street from Sam's.

The Sam's Club seems to be moving along nicely. they started creating the parking lot and the gas station is up front. Any idea when it opens, it looks a few months away.

Not sure, but I would guess it will be mid summer still. Seems like once they get the exterior ready to go, the interior work takes a long time to finish up.

In a semi-related story: I heard that Hendersonville's K-Mart will be closing. And most sadly of all, the Main St. mainstay Bait Shop is closing its doors too. I've gone to the Bait Shop for the last 15 years a few times a year when I go fishing. I hate to see it close.

The Indian Lake Blvd. development has dramatically transformed the area over the last five or so years from a sleepy-eyed, daily commute route to a you-better-keep-your-eyes-peeled, busy roadway. Luckily, my employer moved to a different location and I no longer travel ILB on a daily basis. BTW, a few weeks ago my teen son and I stopped at the new McDonalds for breakfast on our way to some fishing. Usually, when he mentions McDonalds I think "ugh, kiddie city", but was pleasantly surprised at the interior layout and decor of this location. For some reason the coffee even seemed to taste better and I wasn't in such a hurry to get in and get out. If this is an example of their efforts to modernize - I approve!

And the new McDonald's on Main Street just recently got a huge renovation as well. The ILB location is pretty nice, I agree. It is a bit cramped, though. Still, very nice.
