Default News Papers in the Portland, or Clarksville Area

I have been searching for jobs and homes to rent in these to areas. Which is Portland & Clarksville. Could I please get some info on these places. What are the winters like, I am going to be moving here in Sept. I have done some research but it is always nice to here from people that live in these locations. I am looking for country, possible large acreage. Any good locations like this? Thanks so much

The newspaper in Clarksville is the Clarksville Leaf-Chronicle (the "Leaf" part comes from long ago when it was known as The Tobacco Leaf).

Winters are moderate. The coldest part of the year is generally mid-Decemebr to mid-February. Typical nighttime lows during that time of the year is in the twenties or teens. Sometimes it wil get down to single digits or even zero or below; but usually this is just for a short period. Snow will varies each year, from almost none to a few snows of 4 to 8 inches each.

Depending on other factors, if I were looking for land in that general area, I would look in the Port Royal area of Montgomery County or in the southern part of the county; or in neighboring Cheatham or Robertson County.

mygreyeyes71:

Land is generally inexpensive especially in areas between Clarksville and Portland. Acreage tracts can get real reasonable in the areas North of Nashville and south of KY.
Winters have become very mild, January and February being the coldest.
I am familiar with the Port Royal area. Adams is a small community near there and the Red River runs through there. Great river for catfishing or just floating. Springfield is 15 minutes from where I live and we go there often.
