Hello everyone!

I am thinking of moving back to TN. I say back bc I used to live in Memphis area about four years ago. I currently live in St. Louis,MO. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy StL, but I want to get back down to TN. I know a little bit about Nashville, bc I went to undergrad about 1 hr away. I was looking into areas to move...I am a single mom, with a 10 year old..so schools are important! I was thinking about Goodlettsville area..never been there, just heard it was ok. I am applying for jobs also! I have a Masters in Criminal Justice so if anyone knows of any state, city, county, courts or fed positions open...feel free to let me know!! I dont particularily want to stay too far from Nashville's downtown as that will probably be where i will work. Any suggestions or input would help! I really would like to make Nashville my home, so your help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance everyone!

We need to know what type of place you are looking for: Do you want to rent or buy?
What is your price range?
Do you have any other priorities, such as type of neighborhood or recreation, in addition to your job and your kid's school?
And when you say "master's in criminal justice," what kind of job are you expecting?
More details help us narrow it down

Well I would to buy. No more than about 150k. As far as a neighborhood goes, I would like somewhere where my son will be safe to play in the yard, and safe to come home to in the evening. As far as schooling..a good school that is accredited..i say that bc here in St Louis, the city schools arent..sad to say. But I want him to receive a quality education. We are black, so I dont want to be a complete minority..meaning I do like diversity!! Does this help? oh..and my Masters is in Crj Amin. So I currently work for the state here in MO. So I would work with state there, family court, juvenile court. Probation parole, case mgmt. Any aspects of the legal or justice systems. Thank you for your reply!!

You may want to consider a home in the geographic priority zones for Head middle or Meigs middle. These are magnet middle schools which allow students to transfer directly into Hume Fogg and MLK high schools respectively without entering the lottery.

30% of the seats at both middle schools are reserved for families within the GPZ, so that your child can enter the middle school without worrying about the lottery, and with appropriate grades or test scores, bypass the high school lotteries as well.

Some portions of the GPZs are in better shape than others, but there are certainly neighborhoods where you can find a nice house in a revitalizing neighborhood for under 150k.
