I have been given the task of organizing a small reception for about 50-60 people in the spring. The problem is that I have to do this from 1000 miles away. Could anyone suggest some place that would provide fruit platters, perhaps a platter of wraps, salads, maybe some fancy cookies? I really don't know the proper food protocol for this sort of thing in Nashville, but I know that I am not looking for hot food.

The reception will be in the West End area so I don't want to have to drive too far to pick up the food if it can't be delivered. I guess places located in the West End, Green Hills, and downtown, if necessary, would be easiest. I would need the food by midday. Thank you for your help.

We have a LOT of great caterers around here, but I would recommend Menu Maker catering. They are locally owned and not TOO fancy, although they can be if you want that. But it sounds like you are trying to keep it manageable.

My other favorite caterer is Giandi's. But it would be a shame not to get some of his hot food.

BTW most caterers I've used deliver the food to your party site.

We know the owner of Unique Flavors Cafe & catering, and her food is fabulous. She does speciality sandwiches, soups, great desserts, etc.
You can read about her background here:
Unique Flavors Cafe

She does catering for a lot of Music Row businesses.

Also, Jason's Deli does an excellent job. Believe their catering rep works out of the Cool Springs location in Franklin, TN

Yes, Jason's is good. If you want to pick things up on your own, Costco has PLATES of sandwiches, shrimp platters, PILES of cookies, DOZENS of muffins . . . . and on your way out you can pick up massive bundles of paper plates and napkins!

At work, we have a lot of receptions and openings. We use Chef's Market (in Goodlettsville) fairly often for fruit and cheese trays. It's really good...and it's different. They usually deliver them (and we're in Metrocenter). They have some unusual cheeses on their trays and they are displayed nicely.

Thank you very much for your suggestions. I will check them out. We are looking for somethng casual. If I did use Publix, is there a particular store that I should go to or do they all make platters? My biggest problem is timing as I will have to order everything by phone sight unseen and then rush like a mad dog in a few hours to get everything at the venue in a short amount of time.
