Default Help with deck rehab or screened porch construction

My back deck ain't looking so pretty these days.

I'm thinking that I'd like to either refresh it or replace it with a screened porch (or remove it and just have steps leading down to the concrete patio that surrounds the deck).

Does anyone have recommendations for a company/companies or individual(s) that could do such work?

Feel free to send a direct message or to list several options.

ps - I grow veggies right next to the deck, so I'd hope to get an eco-friendly option for any resealing/restaining of the existing deck...

THANKS

I know a couple of contractors, but they stay pretty busy...this might not be a big enough job to catch their attention. Who knows, though...I'll give em a call.

As for your last comment...if you want to be safe with the sealing/staining, you might consider getting a synthetic product and just plain redo your deck.

Also, I'll be perfectly honest...I've found that screen porches keep bugs in as much as they keep them out. I don't see the value in them...but that's just me. I'd either go no screen, or go sun room (glass).

Thanks for the replies. Anyone ever tried preserving their deck with linseed oil?

I have heard that linseed oil makes mildew worse. It actually attracts the mildew spores. We always used the Behr sealer. NOT Thompson's.

Also, a car wash mitt is great for applying it to the banister and railings.
