I wanted to thank everyone for their information and points of views.

It was a very hard decision.

We liked Franklin more (cooler winters, scenery, great amenities for the small town feel), but Dallas won by a hair over future employment opportunities. We can live anywhere we like at the moment but that is dependent on our employment situation staying the same. IF we ever wanted or needed to change jobs we'd be forced to relocate away from Nashville, meanwhile we'd be able to stay put if we lived in Dallas because it has plenty of jobs in our fields.

After exhaustive debates on which was more important to us in the long run (preferred neighborhood vs. better employment opportunities in case of a job change) employment won out. We'd hate to set down roots in Franklin only to have to uproot somewhere else to find work in a worst-case scenario: you never know when you may get laid off, or get sick of consulting and want to change jobs, and Dallas has an abundance of the jobs we'd be seeking while Nashville lacks it.

Thanks again for all your help. This was one of the toughest decisions we've had to make since we love Franklin so much- we really had our hearts split.

Being a hub for Southwest cannot be discounted. Not only does Nashville have non-stop flights to pretty much every major business center in the eastern US, air fares are lower because of SW.
We also now have a 2 year contract for nonstop charter champagne flights to Cancun and Montego bay.
Also with Southwest newest business venture we will soon have Southwest flying to the Caribbean.
Tennessee is far more stable than Ohio .
