Hi, I am looking for some advice. We are moving to Rutherford County this summer and I would like some information about the schools. I have a son that will start the 1st grade in the fall. We are in the process of looking for a house. We liked the Smyrna area and was wondering what schools have gotten the best grades. In addition, what neighborhoods are family friendly. Any input would be really helpful

Thanks!

Jill

You should post this in the Nashville forum or request it to be moved there for more responses. Rutherford
County and Smyrna are part of the Nashville Metropolitan Area.

I live in Smyrna and while I don't have any children, I know a number of people that do, have attended Smyrna schools. All seem to have liked or thought the schools were above average. I can recall only one that disliked Smyrna High, but they were a problem child to say the least. There is currently one high school (Smyrna High) with a second being built (Stewarts Creek)

There are a number of neighborhoods that are family friendly.

I also live in Smyrna and though our daughter isn't in school yet. I have heard things on the ones she is zoned for. I have visited Stewartboro Elementary and the short time I was there, everyone seemed very nice.

As for a neighborhood, it depends on your price range. We live in a nice subdivision off of Florence. It is quiet with lots of kids around. We love it here; moved in Nov 2010.
