ABC Picks Up Nashville TV Series
ABC has picked up a new television series set in Nashville which they creatively named "Nashville".
According to the report it is a drama set against the Nashville music scene. I have no idea if it will be any good, but it is cool to see Nashville get some exposure. Would be cool if it is high quality and becomes a success.

Chart-topping Rayna James (Connie Britton) is a country legend who's had a career any singer would envy, though lately her popularity is starting to wane. Fans still line up to get her autograph, but she's not packing the arenas like she used to. Rayna's record label thinks a concert tour, opening for up-and-comer Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere), the young and sexy future of country music, is just what Rayna needs. But scheming Juliette can't wait to steal Rayna's spotlight. Sharing a stage with that disrespectful, untalented, little vixen is the last thing Rayna wants to do, which sets up a power struggle for popularity. On the surface, it sounds a little too close to Country Strong: The Series for comfort, but a show's concept is just a framework. Good shows are about compelling characters. Connie Britton's awesome and there's plenty of source material here in town to inspire compelling characters if they look for it, but if they get lazy and just fall back on the stock types of the genre, I'll pass.

I heard they spent several days shooting at the Bluebird and the owners (or managers?) provided input to make the performance seem as realistic as possible. That gives me hope about it!

I agree, it sounds like a Country Strong rip off. I love Nashville and hope it will be represented positively. I laughed at what SyraBrian said about Vancouver......too true.
