Default Moving to Nashville

I'm working on relocating my mom and I (and my dog and cat) to Nashville. I'm trying to find out about some towns near Nashville, but not to close. I would like to be 30 minutes or under from the city. I'm looking to rent for now (I would prefer to rent a small 2 bedroom house). I am wondering about some of the areas I've seen. Last year September, I stayed in Franklin for a week w/ my mom on our vacation (a lifetime trip to Nashville). After being there for a week, I didn't want to come home!

I have so many questions, about..well..everything and was wondering where i could go. I don't have children so schools aren't an issue..i have ?'s about health insurance for my mom (she's 67).

Is there a phone # to someone or someplace that i can call and talk to someone to get some answers?

I want to hear the upsides and the downsides to this area. I live in an area that's struggling severly. We have high taxes (sales and income), and getting ahead is getting more and more difficult. I have questions about the weather too!

Thanks for ANY help you all can give me!

Franklin is a sweet town when i lived there (tn) 20 years ago. my dad had a tire store there where you still had credit..."put it on my account!" small town and nothing going on. but it's now the fastest growing area in tn. schools are the finest in tn and it's all a short commute to Nash. winters were snowy for me but my parents who still live there say it doesn't snow anymore...weird. beautiful rolling hills, creeks to play in, and incredible summers. Winters are somewhat depressing...no leaves on trees, cold, rainy.
Tennessee has tenncare that replaces medicare.
A very nice area my niece lives in is west Nashville...hospitals abound in Nashville so no worries about health care. Sales taxes are almost 10% in Tennessee, but no income taxes. and the roads are the finest i've driven on.
I would say contact a Realtor who you can trust? Good luck, they just wanna sell / rent the place...to find a safe area out of town.

Hi everyone, I'm looking to move to the Franklin-Leipers Fork area and I need whatever help I can get. I live in Florida right now. My sister lived in Middle Tennessee for about 9 years and I would visit every chance I got. I've just accepted a job in the area and I am in desperate need of some place.....preferrably in the country, to live. I plan on buying some property and building with in the next year or so. I just need something temporary. If anyone has a room for rent or anything along those lines, I would really be interested. I have some friends who live in the Liepers Fork area who are trying to help me. Thanks to all for any help.
