Default Is 110k salary good in Nashville TN??

We are moving soon from NJ and taking a huge pay cut so we can move to Nashville. Its hard for me to see if 110k is a good salary for a family of 4. We will be renting first and then looking to buy. How would that salary be looked at down there? I am a stay at home mom, my husband work and we have two small children. Can anyone share their experiences there regarding houses, utilities etc Thanks

According to a cost of living calculator, making $110k in Nashville is about equivalent to making $280k in Manhattan. I guess it's all relative, but the concept that $110,000 is not "a good salary for a family of 4" is mind-blowing to me. What is your standard of living like? There are people making 1/3 of that with the same number of kids who are doing fine.

Actually he stated "Manhattan"....this site states $275,000 is compared to $110,329.81 in Nashville.

Cost of Living comparison calculator

So if you were making $275K in Manhattan......
You may take a 59.88% decrease and still maintain your standard of living.....

I don't think I could handle that much of an increase in yearly salary taxes....
