OK, it's officially too hot to cook. Looking for good salads. There was a place in Cool Springs called "Tossed" that had nice (but expensive) salads. It has since been replaced by an Italian place I think.

So, salad bars . . . . I know Harris Teeter has a decent one in Brentwood. A bit of a drive but I might consider it. I always just load up on the little extras like chick peas and pickled beats (yea, I know) and then buy lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes for the base.

Any other salad bars - in a restaurant OR grocery store to consider???

As far as take out salads, I think Zaxby's does a good job and in a real pinch, McDonald's is not bad. Had one at Chic Fil A that was clearly made far in advance of me ordering it and gets a thumbs down.

Swanky Taco does a good salad too . . .

Salad Days are here - any suggestions welcome!

The only salad bar I've seen here is at Jason's Deli.

I tried Newks for the first time the other day in Belle Meade and was very impressed with their salads. I also really enjoy the strawberry poppyseed and chicken salad at Panera Bread. IT's the perfect light meal for a hot summer day. As far as local salad bars are concerned, my faves are Turnip Truck and Whole Foods.

I haven't eaten at a Golden Corral, Ryans, Sizzler, that type of restaurant in YEARS - do those restaurants have a quality salad bar?

I miss having a Red Robin nearby.

Whole Foods has a GREAT hot bar and salad bar. You can get it to go, or enjoy it there. Cool seating area, and live music some evenings, too. Whole Foods Market: Natural and Organic Grocery

West Coast Burrito on Bakers Bridge is a great little spot. Mostly lunch traffic, so dinners are fast. Try their salads, avocado salsa, fish tacos, and (naturally), their burritos. They'll customize anything. Location- West Coast Burrito in Franklin | West Coast Burrito (615) 771-8833 & 625 Bakers Bridge Ave, Franklin, TN 37067 | <Food & Dining/Restaurants/Latin American> - Yahoo! US Local

One of my all-time favorite salads is the Caribbean Chicken Salad at Puffy Muffin. You can get it from their Brentwood restaurant or their Cool Springs counter, across from Costco. Puffy Muffin Dessert Bakery & Restaurant: Serving Nashville, Tennessee, since 1987

Now, if only we could get a good, hard rain!

Whole Foods
Harris Teeter
both have good salad bars for grocery stores.

I like Newks. Panera does a good salad as well (just don't look at the calorie count posted next to them)
Jason's deli is another choice.

I've never been to one locally but there is a Ruby Tuesdays near REI in brentwood and they do a good salad.

Definitely not healthy, but I like Oscar's shredded beef taco salad.

Brixx (the pizza place over in McKewen near WF has very good salads they are very large)
