We have been transfered to the Franklin area. We would love to
find a home abouth 20-25 miles outside. Something simple with an
acre or so. We are down sizing and are looking for something in the
150-200K range. Any suggestions?
Thanks.

You won't have any problems finding something. I just did a quick search in Maury County which starts about ten miles south of Franklin and came up with 57 houses listed that meets the criteria you listed. My suggestion would be to get a realtor and give them more specifics as to what you are looking for and let them help you with the search.

I'd agree with gbone. If you willing to go 20 or 25 minutes out, you shouldn't have too much trouble finding a house on one acres (or larger) in that price range. You could look from the southeast of Franklin all the way around to the west. There are several small towns or communities within that area. Be sure the commute is okay for you however; in some of the areas the road from there to Franklin might not be the easiest commute.

We live in Alabama now and are wanting to relocate to the Columbia area or some where close to the Franklin area, but we do not know much of anything about the areas. We have only visited a couple of times, but can't seem to get off of work here in time to visit any of the schools in the area. So if anyone could tell me about the schools in any of these smaller towns (except Franklin, I can't afford the size of house that I need there) We have a son that will be starting the 9th grade next year. Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi, Lisa. Welcome to the Tennessee C-D forum. It would be better to start you own thread in the Nashville sub-forum with a subject line something like "Need Information on Columbia/Spring Hill Schools". You would be more likely to get a few good responses that way.

I live in Nashville so I don't know much about the schools in Columbia.

Lisa, I was told the schools were good in Spring Hill, so you might want to look around there. You might also want to check out Murfreesboro which has low cost housing, and you get a lot for your money. Certain Schools in Murfreesboro are better than others, but I'm sure some here will be able to tell you about that. Murfreesboro is home to a large state university, so its also a college town.
