Del Webb Lake Providence community?
My husband and I are looking to find a house for our retirement. Although it's not for a few years, I'm afraid to wait too long for fear the prices go out of our range.
We definately want an age restricted plan and Del Webb communities have been recommended to us. We have looked near Charlotte, NC and we were told that because of the credit crunch the one in Mount Juliet is offering great incentives and we might be able to get a better house for less money.
Anyone know about that community? It's located about 2 miles down Providence Trail (via Providence Parkway off S. Mount Juliet Road) near some kind of lake......Lake Providence? I have some concerns because they tend to build their houses rather close together and I'm not sure about that. Does anyone know if there is a photo somewhere of them? Of course the website only shows sketches of the houses and plans and I would actually like to see a real life photo of the place without having to travel 15 hours from western PA.
Any help whatsoever would be appreciated! We have put a hold payment on something from Ryan Homes near Charlotte, but are not adverse to looking elsewhere if we can do better for the same or less money.

I don't know anything about the community, but the "some kind of lake" is probably Percy Priest Lake . . . a 14,000 acres lake run by the Corps of Engineers.

I live 4 miles from Providence. Drove by the Del Webb construction site last week it is off the main road with little traffic at the moment. The lake is manmade looks nice but it is there for your eyes only. The houses are built close together just like MOST subdivisions built today.

Ah! I didn't know that. Ignore my post above. I just assumed that in that area it was Percy Priest.
I shall now go stand in the corner . . .

Alleycat,
You are forgiven. Percy Priest Lake is 4-5 miles from Providence. I have a boat on Percy Priest docked in one of the marinas. Lake Providence is 10 or so acres (my guess) at the moment it doesn’t look very nice because of the drought we are having low water, algae and lots of construction around it.

I had to do a little shopping this morning at Providence so I stopped in at the Del Webb Information Center. They gave me a brochure.
The Home prices range from $180,000 to $400,000. 145 homes are currently occupied. The monthly HOA fees range from $185-$220. Property Tax on a $300,000 home is $1.860 annually.
I have a contact number from the brochure they gave me. I am not sure I am allowed to post it here so if you would like to have it send me a Direct Message. I have nothing to do with them also I am not trying to sell you anything.

Ten acres? Hmmm . . . I might consider that a large pond instead of a lake.

I don’t think it would sound very good “Pond Providence” My guess was off it is 15 acres. Still only a large pond but Lake Providence sound better.
I got this off their website:
Del Webb's Lake Providence will be the first resort lifestyle 55+ active adult community in Middle Tennessee. A total of 1,069 homes are projected to be built around a majestic 23,000 square feet community center overlooking a scenic 15-acre lake. Lake Providence will range from 1,148 to over 3,000 square feet.

I used to live in the Forrest View Apartments in Mt. Juliet ( very close to the Del Webb Lake Providence community ) It's a very nice place to live. It's very quiet and the new Shops at Providence is very nice, biggest Kroger in Nashville and the complex also has stores like Target, JC Penny, Ross, Barnes and Noble, NY Pizza, Marble Slab Ice Cream, Red Robin, Taco Bell, Olive Garden, Ruby Tuesday's is down the road and just a helluva lot more just in one complex. I'd recomend it. The only drawback is the traffic is horrible at rush hour.

Thanks to everybody so far! Especially TNkudzu for taking the time to go and look. I really appreciate it! I do have their phone number and got some guy to FedEx me out some information and another woman to fax me some details. And someone else from there actually emailed some pix. I'm still pretty concerned about the closeness of the homes, although the one or two photos with a bit of two houses in them might have been larger houses going on the lots. Not sure I want to be able to reach out my window and touch the wall of the house next door! OK, maybe that's stretching it a bit, but we are currently on about 1.2 acres and although we want to downsize, not sure I want to go that far. But I guess that's what happens when someone else takes care of your lawn!
Any other info would be greatly appreciated. I'm thinking that I really need to see it, but just don't know when I could get down there. Unfortunately, we just figured out that the house we had signed papers on (but still in the "get out of jail free" period) is NOT age restricted although it does have an HOA. But we really wanted an age restricted development.
