For those of us househunting from a distance:
I occasionally see listings for really nice looking homes on a peninsula that goes out into Percy Priest Lake. It's the one with Anderson Rd. and Priest Lk. Drive and the public use area at the end. Also there's a lot of undeveloped "Army Corps of Engineers" land along the shore. What's up with this area? Is it considered (gasp) "Antioch"? Basically, is this a nice area? Would it be a good place to buy/live? Looks like nice dog-walking possibilities... any honest fb much appreciated... thanks. |

I don't know that particular part of the lake, but it should be a reasonably nice area. It's near Nashboro Village, which was consider somewhat upscale when it was first built. I'm not sure what the exact boundary of Antioch is, or even whether there is one, but personally, I think of Antioch as being on the other side of Murfreesboro Road. One thing that might make it less desirable is being right under one of the Nashville Airport's flightpaths.
Maybe someone who knows the area better than I do will come along. |

Thanks AC...
What's Nashboro Village? I looked at the satellite views. I like all the land around the shoreline - if people are allowed on it... Anyone else? |

The west side of Percy Priest Lake is part of Antioch. The area you are looking at Anderson Rd is probably the best part of Antioch. If you have children especially High School age I would stay away from Antioch. There are trails, parking areas, campground and boat launch ramps. Shopping is close by it is easy to get to I-40 on Bell Rd or to Murfreesboro Rd.
The homes are on nice size lots with LOTS of trees. I have been to the area a few times. Do a GOOGLE search on Percy Priest Lake. |

Nashboro Village is a few miles north of the Anderson Rd area you are looking at. It is an Apartment and Condo Complex. It has gone downhill in the past few years with too much crime. It was a nice place at one time but I wouldn’t live there now.

That surprises me a little bit. Back in the seventies it was considered a notch or two above the ordinary development. Of course, back then parts of Antioch was rural.

Nashboro village used to be real nice but now its the ghetto. If you can remember about a year or so ago a story in the news about a guy to punted a neighbors dog and I believe the dog died. He was living in Nashboro Village
Antioch used to be such a nice area but has gone downhill. I lived in that area near the lake for over 20 years and enjoyed it. But now car break in's are the norm and there are a lot of little wannabe thugs that run around that area. |

when i first moved to nashville - i moved to the antioch area about six years ago because it's a beautiful area and quite affordable without over-crowding.
i absolutely love the topography of the area and i hate to leave it behind (as i'll be moving soon) but probably all for the best because the people that inhabit this area seem to be more of the run-down type. my apartment complex is a decent complex not far from haywood line interstate exit. although i personally don't drink, i always tell people when they visit that if they want a beer - no worries - there will always be a half empty beer bottle/can/cup within a few feet radius of my apartment door (sadly, this is not an exaggeration). The good thing is my neighbors have since become more considerate and instead of just leave their disgusting beer bottles for others to dispose of, at least now they have the decency to also leaves bits/scraps (or more) of food lying about - so this way, you can y'know - get a full fledged snack, both a meal and a drink !!! ![]() |

Thanks, but everyone's talking about Antioch and I'm not sure this is even considered Antioch. It's a Nashville address, for what that's worth. I"m really asking about that particular peninsula on the east side of Percy Priest Lake.

I wouldn't actually consider it part of Antioch, but TNkudzu says it is and he seems to know the area. |
