I don't know what you consider nice, but I think you are going to have a difficult time finding apartments in Murfreesboro for under $500/mo. If you are looking for a 1 bedroom/studio place that might help. To be honest, with that budget you'll most likely be in what many would consider an undesired location.

Hi, Mandy!
I'm fixing to relocate to NC and I've had excellent luck in getting people to talk about their city, especially the Durham area. You might want to check out their forum.
If you're open to the west coast, the WA State forums are great, too.
One of my priorities in a new town is friendliness. I've been living in Florida for 1.5 years and it's not a "warm welcome" kind of town.
Good Luck!

Yeah, I live near Daytona. I'm originally from GB, WI. I see you're also from The Frozen Tundra - whereabouts? I always wanted to move to the southeast, I'm only in FL because my parents are here - I moved back home (Rent Free!) to save up some money and get back on my feet financially. I saw that you're also interested in Alabama. It's really beautiful in N AL and S TN, I hope you find what you're looking for.

I've never been to Hudson, but I can understand wanting to leave home, and escape those harsh WI winters. Consider staying home long enough to save up some $, though, okay? Car trouble, rent deposits, moving expenses, etc can add up very quickly. Staying home for a few more months than you want to can greatly increase your success.
Good Luck!!

Apartment Help
Hey Mandy2007:
Based on what you've said, I understand your frustration. I am relocating to Tennessee in less than a year...at least that is the plan. I also had been searching for possible areas to rent an apartment that were both affordable and in a nice area. I was pretty open and general about the area that it could be in. However, I found that in trying to get help with apartments searches, there isn't that much help available. I don't think that it's because Tennesse isn't a good town to move to or a lack of friendliness, but just that a lot of people that post here just aren't that knowledgeable about apartment rentals (as strange as that may seem). I primarily was directed to websites such as craigslist, aptselector.com, and moving.com. When I saw things that I could be interested in, I went to Apartment Ratings - Apartments for Rent with Ratings and Reviews from Actual Renters to see how they were rated by previous renters.
I hope this helps. I don't want you deciding not to move here because of this. I think that the people are really friendly as you said, but I guess they can't help what they don't know...or don't care about for that matter. It seems like a big "realtor" market when you're on here. Everyone's looking to buy a house except for ME... and now YOU.
All the best!
