Default Health insurance in Nashville

We are planning to move in the summer and I am trying to get things in order now so I am well prepared. We will most likely be self employed and will need to get our own health insurance. I was wondering if you could tell me the major providors in the area. I don't know if they are the same as CA.
Thanks so much!

I think I've heard Blue Cross/ Blue Shield has some of the best rates for individuals, but I'm not sure. There is also United Healthcare, Cigna, Aetna. Those are the major ones I can remember.

Default also self-employed

By far the best rates we found was for BC/BS through the TN Farm Bureau. Considerably lower than BC/BS from State Farm.

Good luck!

Default Moving brings changes

You will find the health insurance world very different than in California. There are far more options due to less regulation. This is very good for making choices but dangerous for those who are ill-informed. We have all the best companies doing business here and some who should be shut down. I opened my agency using the 12 best companies in this business. You need lots of choices to do this right since every company fits a different niche. You don't want to be declined for a health condition since a decline is a red flag to the next company you apply to. Any agent who ony represents one or two companies is going to get a lot of clients declined thereby making it much more difficult for them to get insured later. Some companies will decline for the smallest things, like high blood pressure. We match the plan to the health condition of the client first, then apply knowing they will be accepted. We have over 200 plan options os we can match your insurance needs to your budget needs. We don't believe in giving the insurance companies a dime more than necessary to provide you the security you are looking for. Vist us at Health Coverage Today

The state has a new program called CoverTN designed for people that are self-employed or for small business owners looking to provide coverage for their employees. I don't know how good the insurance is, but it should be cheap since it is state subsidized. Aetna and BCBS seem to have the better plans in Tennessee, but both have many different plans to chose from. Try looking for insurance through a professional organization that represents members of your field or even the AARP.

Tennessee Farm Bureau provides good insurance at a good price as well as other benefits.
