Sorry Brentwood Girl, I should've mentioned that I want to find a house in Fred Page HS rather than Ravenswood. I will have two boys in high school and after moving them several times already we have determined that a smaller school will make the transition a little easier. The new HS will not open in time for us. Thanks

What is traffic like on 440 or 40 at around 9 AM weekdays? 840?

Depends on which directions you're going at a certain time. 40 coming into town from the east can be fairly congested still at 9 once you get near the downtown loops but thins out for the most part a little before 9. That's my morning commute between 8:30-9 or so. Coming into town from the west doesn't have as much volume so on normal days that's not much of a traffic concern.

Again, if you're coming from the east, the junction onto 440 from 40 is heavily congested. Once you're ON 440 it's usually fine but getting from 40 west to 440 is pretty rough for a few miles.

840 is wide open but it truly is way out of the way unless there's a lot of traffic. If you were coming from the west, 840 would be a waste of time. If you're coming from the east, maaaaaaaybe worth it but still probably going to take you longer. I guess if you're willing to drive more miles for the sake of traffic-free cruising, you could take it.

Obviously these are all under the assumptions that there are no big accidents or anything like that.

After 9 is when a lot of the interstate congestion really starts dissipating. If you can wait until 9:30 or 10 to traverse Nashville, it really becomes a breeze.

We are coming from the west. We would like to come through later, but can't. So, I am gathering taking 40 or 440 would be good @ around 9 AM. Is 40 quicker or 440? We just do't come that way that often. Thanks all!!

Either one will probably be fine coming from the west. Once you get downtown you're going against the flow of traffic and most of it before downtown is cleared out by then anyway. If you want to see downtown or something when you're passing by you can go 40 the whole way or you can take 440 which isn't bad either. Up to you really.

Google Maps has Bellevue (west side) to the airport (east side) at 25 minutes and 21.7 miles taking 40. It has 25 minutes and 22.7 miles taking 440. It's almost identical.

By 9am depends if there is normal weekday traffic. Using 440 may be a little easier to follow since you can get into the LH lane most of the route. Using 40 you need to watch not to get mixed with I-65 or I-24 & start to go the wrong way. Some exits are on the LH side. The main flow from 65 comes in from the LH side & exits on the RH so they have some miles to cross in a 3 lane roadway. As you go east, 24 comes in from LH an exits RH a few miles later.

If you do the 40 to Briley & go by Opryland back to 40 is also a fairly easy route to follow until you get to 40 where the exit goes off right then splits into the EB flyover or the WB lanes. This is good mostly if there is construction weekend on one of the 40-65 bridges. About 35 miles posted at 55 with a short stretch at 65.
