need info
I lived in Williamson County a few years ago. Some of the women there made a sweet potato dish that had a soft caramel-pecan topping that oozed down the side as you spooned the potatoes out of the dish.
Can anyone help me find this? It's the best sweet potato dish I've ever tasted and I *dream* about it.
Thanks,
hatch

Well, I can get you a sweet potato pie with pecan topping recipe, but it might not be exactly like the one you remember. I'm sure every cook does it slightly different. Did these Williamson women happen to be members of some church or organization?

alleycat, it's not a pie. It was mashed sweet potatoes, piled into a baking dish. Then, they made a well in top, and added the caramel sauce which *ran* when you spooned them out of the dish. Don't know how else to describe it.
Thanks,
hatch

I don't know that I've ever seen one like that, but as I mentioned earlier, I'm sure there is a thousand sweet potato pie/casserole recipes out there.
I'll see if I can Google and find something similar.

As I expected, I can find a kazillion sweet potato recipes . . . but not one exactly as you describe. I'll try again later . . . I've OD'ed on sweet potato recipes at the moment. ;-)

Artemus and I seem to look at the same site for recipes. Here are a few more from there to check out.

I think there's only one thing to do . . . create our own.

I agree, alleycat. We must all meet next weekend for a Sweet Potato Casserole Cook-Off. For research purposes, of course .
The one with the most caramel sauce wins!
