Fwiw, Spring Hill's population may be ~31,000 now...but consider that in 2000, it only had a population of 7,700. In 1990, it had a population of maybe 1,500. The town actually outgrew Franklin (in raw numbers), which is a fairly fast growing (and much larger) city in its own right.

Spring Hill might be more your speed at present...but at this pace, it's looking to pass 50,000 by 2020.

Thanks for the advice..... that seems to work perfect for our situation! We only plan to stay in this home for 3-5 years before purchasing acreage to build our dream home. When growth is on the rise, there is real estate appreciation! Woo-Hoo!

If it works for you, by all means.

My family and I recently relocated to the Nashville area and I work in Brentwood. We were in the same boat, just looking for a cheaper place to rent to get acclimated to the area. My job is in Maryland Farms which is in Brentwood, and the drive is not too bad. My job is lenient on start time and leave time though. The first week I was working, I worked 8-5 and my commute to and from work was 45 minutes - 1 hour. I asked to work 7-4 and that cut my commute to 30-40 minutes barring any major accidents. A couple of mornings ago there was an accident on 65 north of Brentwood, and traffic was down to two lanes. It took me an hour and a half to get to work.

In my honest opinion Spring Hill is awesome, it seems like there are always festivals going on, and there are plenty of restaurants and stores for shopping. We like it so much there that we are actually now building a house in the Meadowbrook subdivision. If you are OK with the commute, and prefer more home for your dollar, Spring Hill is the place for you. We are building a 2400 sq ft. home for right around 200k. You will not find prices like that in Brentwood for sure, and they are few and far between in the Franklin area.

Be sure to note that Spring Hill straddles the Maury and Williamson county lines, so that means two different school systems, different taxes, different gov't officials etc.

For example, Meadowbrook is on the Maury County side; Cherry Grove is on the Williamson County side. It doesn't matter to all, but it matters to some.

To add to the above, and as stated before, the Williamson County side is generally seen as the more desirable side, with a better school system (fwiw, my nieces live in Spring Hill on the Maury side, attend Maury schools, and they seem to be getting a good education). The population split is roughly 3/4 on the Williamson side, and 1/4 on the Maury side. The advantage of the Maury side is that it is a little less crowded, and has better access to Saturn Parkway (the freeway that connects I-65 to US-31). The Williamson side has more of the commercial/retail, though there is a large shopping center on the Maury side, near the Saturn Pkwy/US 31 interchange.

One big problem facing the town is that there are no 4 lane roads that go THROUGH town, and only one interstate exit that serves the whole town (plus 3 on Saturn Pkwy). The main road in town is 2 lanes (for the most part), and there are very few viable alternate routes. The northern exit is forced to creep through Thompson's Station to get to the exit at 840.

The town suffers from a complete and total failure to plan for the future.

Well there is Brentioch, Cane Ridge, most of Percy Priest Lake, and almost everything South of Bell road. Oh wait, I think I just named 75% of geographic Antioch...
