I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if the commuter rail is a good option for commuting from the hermitage area to the downtown stop? Especially for someone working a 9-5 day and is from out of town?

Any info would be great!

Well, it could be. The biggest drawback is that it stops at Riverfront. That means you either have to walk, take a shuttle, or ride a bus to wherever you're actually going in downtown. In other words, it isn't like a inter-city rail system that has multiple street stops. Other than that, it would probably be great. It's safe to ride it.

Do you know where you'll be working?

It runs at the peak times during the day, rush hours in the morning and afternoon. It doesn't run on the weekends though.

The Sommet Center is a short walk from the train station.

Yeah, it wouldn't be a bad walk to the Sommet Center (although it's a bit more than a block or two).

The walk probably wouldn't be much fun on one of those days when it's cold and windy, or rainy and windy. If I were making the walk on a daily basis I'd get a cheap, lighweight plastic or nylon raincoat with a hood; something I could just wad up and be easy to carry with me for those kinds of days.

Other than that, taking the train should be fun. I think at some of the stations they sell coffee and doughnuts from carts so you could read the paper and have a cup of coffee on the way. And again, considering the areas the train is coming from, it should be safe and clean.

Good luck.

There's a website, by the way. I don't have the link offhand; just Google for "Music City Star railroad".
