losing my mind......
Hey you all. I see a lot of people talking about their commute to and from Nashville for their jobs/careers. That's what I need.....a job/career. Does anyone out there know of any position that needs to be filled, or have a company themselves that a position needs to be filled? I mean really, I have a great resume together, great marketing skills, excellent people person and management experience. I have tried all these careerbuilder and monster.com ads for nearly two (2) years now. All I ever get is Insurance companies. Can anyone help me with this huge delima?

Well, I'll give you my opinion (you know what they say about opinions . . . ).
I think you're going about it backwards (no offense meant). Have you identified some companies here that you would want to work for, and who would have a position that uses your skills and experience? I would probably ask if you have experience in marketing, why aren't you marketing yourself rather than waiting for something to show up on monster.com? It's okay to use online "help wanted" ads, but they should be your secondary tool.
I'm not trying to be mean to you, but have you even researched what companies have headquarters or large operations here? Do you know what are the largest employers in the Nashville area? There are hundreds of companies here who employee at least 100-500 people; have you talked to any of them?

what to do..../
Well, they do say, finding a job is a 40 hour a week job." I have a llittle marketing background, but not so much that I have the know how to market myself. I have faxed resume after resume, applied and applied and applied to several, several different. I have told the administrative person at my Church. I have asked friends and family to tell people that know people. I have went to those career finders (3) and had them "put out" my resume out there to whatever companies they represent. All I get is Insurance companies wanting me to sell insurance. Which, needless to say, is what I've been doing for the past three (3) years, in vain. What else can I do? And you didn't come off as mean at all, I really appreciate your response.

Ah, I see. Your original post made it sound like you were primarily just looking at the monster.com site and waiting for something to come along.
Are you in Nashville now? Or out of town?
What type of businesses have you worked at before?

re....
Yes, I'm in Nashville. I am a District Manager now and am responsible for recruiting, training, advertising and promoting. I am also in the sales department. I've been a manager before, at another co., and managed a group of about 11. I am totally trainable and completly coachable, but dad-gum, what am I suppose to do? It's hard out here.
