I second Mt. Juliet, or maybe that's third or fourth it!

I am going to suggest that you stay right in Davidson County and live in either the Donelson or Hermitage area, close to your job, each area has nice areas. McGavock High School is the zoned school for that area and it is a good school. If your children are already smart and or if you are already active in their education as a parent they will be just as fine in any Metro school as they would outside of Davidson County. So save yourself some time on your commute and money and stay in Davidson County.

Just going to echo what others have said about traffic issues if you're doing a typical daytime commute from Franklin or Hendersonville.

Nashville has many great points, but traffic is bad at rush hours and getting worse as more and more people move to the It City.

If you can live closer to work, you'll probably be happier.

Thank you all so much for the feedback. I visited this past weekend and looked at rental homes in Hendersonville and Hermitage. I was unable to find many options in Hendersonville but did locate a home in Hermitage, the only drawback is the price. $1800 a month! For the home and the neighborhood (Bridgecross Pkwy) it certainly seems worth it, but I may be biting off more than I can chew. I am still searching in Mt Juliet. Can anyone tell me about Antioch??

When we first moved to Nashville we moved to Hendersonville. It is a wonderful area, great school system, but the travel back and forth from Nashville to Hendersonville was not fun. High traffic time and your commute will be around an hour (once you hit Hendersonville the traffic is bumper to bumper between 4-7).

We recently moved to Donelson and really like the area. I am within a block from my work and hubby travels 9 miles one way. We are spending much less on gas and wear and tear on our vehicles. I don't have children so the schools were not an issue but I work with a lot of people who live in Donelson and send their children here or a magnet school.

Good luck!

Default Franklin is a nightmare

It has everything that is bad about a small town and nothing that is good about it. It also has terrible traffic. When traffic is clear you have thousands of commuter angry about the 30 minute drive to work who tear through the streets at 85 MPH.

Mt Juliet/Providence is the upscale choice but if you spend $400K you can get a good house in the Hermitage area on the lake. I live in Donelson and I like it but I don't have two kids to worry about Donelson is in the airport area and it is "in transition"

Joy Church is a great church in Mt Juliet
