It looks like the worst of the storms (as of 2:30pm today) will be south of Nashville towards the Alabama border

Usually over hyped, but it never hurts to have a game plan.

Yes, it looks like after this evening, it's over and done with - although the weather service called for THREE DAYS of severe weather. What will they talk about tomorrow???

Default Wish u guys a safe couple of days

Btw, how often do you see this kind of activity in this area ?
We are considering a move to the Hendersonville, Mt. Juilet area, can't say this doesn't give me pause.
Stay safe.

Last trip we took on I-40 going through this area we got dents in our cars roof from the hail. My niece lives in the Knoxville area and had just finished building her house before the first storm happened. She had almost gotten the damage from that storm repaired when her home was damaged again. Often is when it happens there. I have another friend who has built a storm room.

If by "this kind of activity," you mean a tempest in a teapot, then 3-4 times a year. We'll get a legitimate warning (sirens) 1-2 times per year. It's almost always been a false alarm. Tornadoes are rare, strong ones like the ones in Oklahoma or Mississippi rarer still.

FWIW, the tornado threat has been drastically downgraded today.

In the 2 years we lived in TN, I felt like we got warnings quite often. I think part of the panic I felt was that we didn't have a basement. They are hard to find in the area and if we still lived there, I would insist on a shelter.

I know they report casualties from direct tornado hits but I rarely see or hear how the innocent perished.

Were they in cars, caught off guard outdoors????
Were they in a secure room in their homes?
I'm just curious as to what the circumstances were in most cases of loss of life.

Does anyone know any of the information?

So, I saw on the news this morning that there are still possibility of severe storm/tornado threats south of Nashville. Any updates on that?

It's sunny and getting more warm and humid in Hendersonville and it's early.

I saw on the news this AM where one young man in Mississippi did everything right by going to his basement when the storm came, but the wall in the basement collapsed and killed him. So you never know and just live each day to the fullest.
