Mack Hatcher construction seems to be over! The delays when there was just one lane open, usually between Franklin Road and Cool Springs, were SO frustrating but now that it seems to be done, I use it all the time and it's so quick and easy! Really nice road.

Does anyone know if it has been there a long time? Perhaps as just a single lane country road that got chosen to be bigger? Or was it a completely new road/bypass?

Now if they can just finish up Hillsboro into Franklin . . . .

It was built in the mid/late 80s, if I'm not mistaken. Small town bypasses were very common around that time.

Of course, at that time, what is 'Franklin' was actually inside Mack Hatcher.

I used the University of Google to learn who Mack Hatcher is.

It was built in the very late 80s. It was a completely new bypass. There used to be a Kroger in that shopping center where La Hacienda and Cool Cafe are now.

Before Brentwood High opened in 1982, ALL students from Brentwood and Franklin attended Franklin High, and my husband used to ride a school bus that went from Brentwood down a very windy Spencer Creek Road that crossed that area about where the new BGA on Mack Hatcher is now and ended up in an S-shaped gravel road over by Franklin High.

Of course, that would never happen today. LOL

Now all we need is for them to complete the loop around Franklin.

Hopefully they'll fund it from Hillsboro to 96W next year and eventually all the way to Target on Columbia.
