Can anyone tell me about the elementary schools in Antioch/Cane Ridge? We know that they are not great, and that they are very diverse (a good thing in our eyes). We just want to know if there are any elementary schools with good teachers & involved parents. We are house shopping currently and have a 7 month old. It's possible we'd move again before she even starts school but just in case, we want to know the options.

Also, does anyone know how likely it is for school zones to be redrawn in the next 5 years in that area? How likely is it that we'd buy in a decent school zone & end up in a worse one? I feel like it usually goes the other way right?

Both Antioch and Cane Ridge cluster elementary schools are good. I particuarly know about AZ Kelley and Maxwell, both in the Cane Ridge cluster, and Lakeview, J.E. Moss, and Thomas Edison in the Antioch cluster, all have strong administrators who expect a lot from their teachers. Each have strong parent and community involvement. As far as teachers, they are all held to the same standards as all other Metro Public School and state of Tennessee Standards and a vast majority come from the same teaching programs.
There will be a new elementary school opening soon near the lake that will call for a rezoning of the Antioch. The Cane Ridge cluster was rezoned two years ago with the opening of Cane Ridge Elementary.
