I work late at a large office in Antioch, and I've never had trouble after 10PM at Kroger, getting gas, etc. However, I will admit I'm almost shocked if I don't see blue lights flashing that late on Bell Road, heading back West under I-24 on down to Nolensville Road. Not to mention crazy pedestrians at that intersection. I still think it gets a worse rap than it deserves, and you gotta admit that developers have done a pretty great job redoing the mall area. Most dead mall areas are a lot worse off than Hickory Hollow. I know we keep praying for a miracle here that way in Bellevue...

I just noticed the OP has exactly 1 post (this thread) and they haven't been back since. I am beginning to suspect that this thread was created by someone that is fairly active on CD, and this topic, simply to stir up trouble.

To the OP, apparently crime, gangs and prostitution only happen in Brentwood and Franklin. I would avoid those areas at all costs. I've come to realize, through this thread, that Antioch is Utopia... a modern day Shangri La. Any observation or perception counter to that is purely a figment of the witness' imagination.

Antioch? Why we gotta pick on Antioch. I can name a thousand worse areas of town than Antioch. Antioch is in the middle of Nashville regarding safety. Safer than Nashville's downtown neighborhoods, not as nice as Williamson County.

Did you really expect a poster with the screen name "Antioch" to be unbiased on this topic?

This is what I hear from people who seem unbiased and impartial:
The crime rate is lower since the mall closed in it's former condition.
Cheap hotels on the "Home Depot side of I-24" create a sketch environment on that side.
The loss of Target in that area was huge
That part of town will probably never return to the glory days of 1985-1995. Not in our lifetime.

I forgot a couple more -
Nashville Tech satellite campus should be a big plus
The rest of the mall as currently re-opened will never be a draw, it's a major disappointment
New Publix shopping center further down Murf. Rd. is a nice addition and good alternative to WalMart grocery shopping.

I think the Predators putting the hockey rink in the mall is going to be a good thing for the area. It will never, ever be comparable to Brentwood or Franklin in any capacity other than geographic location.

Lived in Nashville entire life. Have family that lives in Antioch. I wouldn't move to Antioch. Try Hermitage instead if you must be close to the city at a comparable price and safer.
