Thinking of taking a job in Franklin, TN. Looks like housing is expensive in Franklin. I'm used to a rural small town environment. Are there places within commuting distance of Franklin where you can buy a house with a few acres under $200,000? Thanks, LNB

Sounds like you might like Nolensville, although the commute might not be a "straight shot". There's also Spring Hill and Thompson Station, which are growing rapidly and getting more pricey. Also, Fairview. I'm not a big fan of Fairview myself, but it might work for you.

How far away are you now? The best way to really get a feel for the area is to make a visit and see for yourself. Like Alleycat said, Fairview might work for you, but it's not his favorite. Others may consider Columbia a fair commute, but be too far for you.

Good luck!

Nolensville, You can take Nolensville Rd to 96 and it will take you right into Franklin. Its a country road, but I've never encountered traffic on it.
I take it sometimes because I like driving thru the country side. My Subdivision is off of Holt road, so I take that into Nolensville Road.

Your best bet is Spring Hill or Thompson Station if you want a few acres. Anything in Williamson County will have high property taxes and expensive housing except for Fairview. The main reason people move to Williamson County is for the public school system.
