Maybe Cheekwood and/or the Belle Meade Plantation with dinner at one of the nicer restaurant along West End?

Is your wife more interested in music (classical or country), the arts, nature, goofy fun, nerd stuff?

At the 70S-Hwy 100 split near Cheekwood & Belle Meade plantation, there are a number of places to choose from. Both also offer their own dining options. You may like Sperry's.

By "vineyard," I assume you mean Arrington Vineyards, which is a place some people take a picnic. It is located between Murfreesboro and Franklin.

What To Expect | Arrington Vineyards

There are some nice options for dinner in Franklin, none of which are black tie. Saffire in the Factory, The Cork and Cow downtown, even J ALexander's in Cool Springs has good food.

Also, you could tour the Carnton Plantation and take a walk on the Franklin Square.

Have you been to Lynchburg to visit the Jack Daniel's distillery yet? That's a fun day trip. Take the tour, stroll around the downtown square, eat at Miss Mary Bobo's. Good times and pretty cheap. There's also a decent (for TN) winery in Manchester, Beans Creek, that might be worth the 30 minute drive from Lynchburg...while you're in the neighborhood.
