Hello all,

I'm being relocated to Nashville and need some neighborhood advice. We've got a handful of kids under 10. I'll be commuting into Metrocenter.

Any solid neighborhoods for the kiddos that aren't a 30 minute commute

Thanks!

I would look in Sumner County.

What is your budget?

That's $200,000 to $250,000 and you need how many bedrooms?

Plenty of options in that price range in Sumner County. But it would be pushing a 30 minute commute every day. I work a little south of downtown and live on the north side of Hendersonville and my rush hour commute is 35 minutes on a very good day to 40-45 minutes on average.

It also would be helpful to know about other priorities you may have...Hendersonville and Sumner County is a great place to live for families but it may not be for everyone if you have specific needs/wants. You might also look in Goodlettsville on the Sumner County side as it would be a little closer commute-wise but still be zoned for Sumner Co schools.

If you haven't already, check out www.realtracs.com for real estate listings to get an idea of what's out there.

If you mean buying within the $200K-$250K range, you can search Realtracs.com.

This is not an easy question. What is a "handful" of kids? How many bedrooms will you need? Will they be in public school? A 30-minute commute is not that unusual here, so you are asking for something UNusual, which will be harder to find.

Metrocenter is on the opposite side of Middle TN from your largest selection of homes in your price range and closest to areas either considered "rough," like Madison and Trinity Lane, or fairly rural and undeveloped, like Cheatham County.

If you want IN Nashville, your price range will limit you. I agree that Sumner County in Goodlettsville or Hendersonville would work, though it will probably blow your commute goal. Have you considered living in Clarksville? You would have more housing options there.

Yes, I meant $200-250k. 4 bedrooms is plenty...more would be a bonus. We're homeschooling now...and could continue doing so...

I don't live in Nashville but visited once and loved it! There's a lot to do as a family I think. Specifically, you MUST check out ClimbNashville. It's an indoor rock climbing gym and it is absolutely stellar. They have two locations in the city and one is definitely better than the other. It's humongous.

Also, Garden Brunch Cafe. Caramelized banana waffles. Their breakfast potatoes. Holy moly it was so good. And Nashville has some dang good barbecue…and I'm from Kansas City, MO so I know good bbq

Sorry I can't say anything about neighborhoods but I felt like the above was definitely worth mentioning. Good luck!
