Any suggestions???
My husband and I are in our upper 40's, and we are having a difficult time meeting other couples with similar intersts. (We don't work or attend church). We moved to a new community in Brentwood, but it seems most of our neighbors are young with small children. Does anyone know of any social groups for older couples? Card games, Dinner clubs, Coffee clutches? I am planning on joining a new neighbors club. But would like to make couple friends also. Thanks,

Do you and your husband enjoy exercise? There is a local running club that is always looking for new people. All they ask is that you have an open mind, and enjoy making new friends. Let me know..and I can tell you more!

Gidge, welcome to Brentwood. What do you and your husband enjoy doing other than cards and dinner clubs? There are many things to get involved with in the area that gives you the opportunity to meet other couples. Volunteering with various organizations(i.e., Friends of Radnor Lake, TPAC, Symphony, charitable organizations, etc.) that you might have an interest in is a good place to start. There are numerous recreation/sporting activities such as biking that many couples are involved with. There are also bridge clubs. What have you tried to do so far to meet new friends? Give us a little more information and you may get more specific responses.

Sounds like you're in my same situation. We live in Cottontown. Husband is 54 and I'm 47. We moved here 3 months ago and don't work, don't have any friends or family here. My husband goes target shooting at an indoor range in Greenbrier and I joined the Key to the City in Hendersonville which is mostly nice but much older women. My husband is trying to find an outdoor range and hopes one day to meet other men who like to target shoot. We both feel lonely here. We love the state but need things to do.

Children at home and someone's work are two things that many people have in common that draws them together where friendships develop. Lacking both of those a person or couple will probably need to look at getting involved in the community in some way with things they enjoy doing that involve people close to their age group. This could involve recreation or sports activities, of which there are many in the area. It could also involve church activities or volunteer activities with any of a number of non-profit organizations. I have found, in my 60 years and many moves, if I get involved in giving of myself to the community, friendships just happen and I don't have to seek them out.

There is a bridge club at Vanderbilt. I'll have to find the contact information and I'll get that information to you. My office is in Brentwood and I live just off Granny White Pike. What subdivision in Brentwood do you live in?
