Me too!!
I am going to live in Sumner County and we are moving this summer. I think we found a place on 28 acres that looks perfect. It is in WestMoreland and such a beautiful area. You are right about Florida... We live here in FL as well and are relocating. You have to be rich to live in FL anymore. I was born and raised here and so was hubby but we are getting out. Very sad!

Affordable home needed for ludacris 14
Hi Ludacris14
If schools are important to you and you want a really decently priced site-built home then I'd look in Mt Juliet in the Lakeview Elementary School district. This school got an A+ report card the last two years. Best school in Nashville area if you don't want to go as far as Spring Hill for affordable housing. If schools are not a concern, then I agree with others on Lebanon to the east, Springfield,Ridgetop,Goodlettsville to the north. You should also look in Pegram, Kingston Springs to the west! Great homes there! Let me know if I can help. Licensed Realtor

Living close to family in small town
Hi! Try Ridgetop or Greenbriar. Very quaint, affordable... right off I65N. Let me know if I can help. I just helped folks buy a home in Portland and we saw it ALL!!

And by affordable I mean nice/decent homes that are in the $80,000 - $130,000 range. Also, what are the insurance rates there? I am in Florida and the homeowners insurance here is outrageous. I am talking in the upwards of $4000/year for an average home. Thanks for the info.

Murfreesboro is good, but you can also look at Smyrna which is on the same I-24 area that Murfreesboro is. I have seen a lot of new and inexpensive housing there. Insurance rates are no where near that here, maybe $400- $500 a year on the price house your talking, and that figure could be lower.
You would want the Rutherford County part of Smyrna. It has the better schools.

When you said "untouched small town" I think of Cross Plains. It's not far from White House (just the next exit up from White House on I-65) It's within an hour of Nashville and as far as playing adult softball, Cross Plains is just a short drive to Springfield OR White House which both have city parks that have open adult softball (mostly church teams though I think). This is just an option. Also as mentioned above there is also Greenbrier (with an "e" not an "a") and also Ridgetop. These are both on Hwy 41 north of Nashville and both within a 45 minute drive at most to Nashville.
Good Luck!

I thought Franklin was the one until I searched the housing prices -- can't get much unless you get a $200,000+ house.
Thanks for your help!!!

I am black as well, I have to say my favorite area in Nashville is Germantown and Salemtown. Very pretty historic area, that is the place I would buy something IF I end up in Nashville.

I would suggest looking at Werthan Lofts in Germantown. It is a great development near downtown. Let me know if you would like more information about it.

Relocating to Nashville Reply
North of Nashville around the White House, Ridge Top and Greenbrier areas are good if you are commuting to Nashville. I'm a real estate agent and have a 2,032 sq ft home on a fully fenced .86 acre lot with a pool and 16' x 24' ft workshop for $232,900. If that's too much let me know and I can find a home in your price range that meets your needs. The further from Nashville you travel most likely the more land you'll get with your home.

You might check the area in Westmoreland. That's pretty close to where the tornado went through a couple of weeks ago. Lots of damages there.
