Some gals just drove up from Franklin to downtown and said the freeways are very much full of water. Main roads in town are OK. Sidewalks are not ok.

I-40 between Monterey and Crossville is closed because of all the downed trees and power lines. A thick layer of ice coated the trees and power lines all over that area. Here are some pictures of Monterey this morning:

That was unforgettable.

For some reason we left a pickup parked in the driveway that night, and a huge hackberry branch fell right across the windshield.

I was quite annoyed that several YMCAs decided to stay open today and hold rec-league basketball games in the afternoons after canceling morning games. IMHO, asking teen drivers to come out on a day like today is irresponsible.

But I currently have multiple kids with a stomach virus at my house, so I am seriously considering risking my life to stay at a hotel. Or maybe just pitch a tent in the snow.
We had been stuck here since Sunday...so decided to make a break for it yesterday...not MY idea but went along with my husband..we had to leave our car at the bottom of our hill/road and carry our groceries..all 86 bags yesterday... a LONG way up...to the house...car is still there...we got down ok but couldn't come up..and we have a 4 wheel drive vehicle...

Hope your kids are feeling better....
