Question Moving to Nashville

I will be relocating to Nashville from Seattle .
I have done alot of research on the city and visited Nashville recently . One of the main reasons are the housing cost .
I am somewhat concerned about the crime in Nashville especially that it is rated in the TOP 10 most dangerous cities in the country.
I might be worring for nothing but would love to hear some feedback from locals on what are the better areas of the city for buying a home. I will be working close by to Green Hills Mall.

Thanks,

Gabe

well if you are concerned about crime move to franklin or brentwood (they are the upper scale areas) because they are relatively close to Green Hills Mall (which I believe is a great mall good choice!

just don't move to some parts of the downtown...its like the ghetto.. unless you don't mind hearing guns shots about once a month.

good luck choosing an area! welcome to TN!

Yeah, but Franklin has a nice mall too.

Where? In Franklin? Franklin has one "ghetto" and it's just a neighborhood/apartment complex. I remember driving through there once... saw all kinds of Mexican flags and other nonsense from people that shouldn't be in the country to begin with. I think the illegals and Blacks battle it out for neighborhood control over there.

Yes, now that I think of it I think I might of passed through that area you are talking about..but I was talking about the ghettos near the projects in downtown Nashville.

Hey Gabe. Not sure if you are reading this any more or if you moved already. I lived in Seattle for 13 years and I feel just as safe being in the core downtown area here as I ever did in Seattle. There are some areas that can be sketchy here like parts of East Nashville, Germantown, Antioch (suburb). But nothing worse than the Central District or Pioneer Square in Seattle. If you are in the Green Hills area for work you will be very safe. Living wise Brentwood, Franklin, Sylvan Park, Hillsboro Village would all be good choices.

I've lived in SF, walking through very iffy neighborhoods to ride BART at night, etc., and I feel VERY safe working in Nashville and living in Franklin.

The area near GH Mall can get very congested, and not just during rush hour. There are lots of nice condos in the area. Maybe you can find one there in your price range so you can avoid much of a commute.

Good luck wherever you end up, and welcome!
