Bellevue is very close to Williamson County. The elementary and middle schools in Nashville are generally okay; it's the high schools you have to be more selective about. Hillwood is one of the better ones in Metro.

Another helpful bit of information . . . if and when you move, the driver's license station and the car inspection station for this area is near John Tune (take exit B rather than A off of Briley Parkway).

You guys are awesome with all of this information. OK, I have been searching around a lot in this forum and it seems that the general concensus has been to stay out of Davidson County schools. Are these schools considered in that district? How close would I be to Williamson County from Bellevue?
Mary, you are less than five miles from the Williamson County line, but the price of houses go up exponentially in Williamson County. There may also be an issue for you with tuition costs at the Christian schools in Williamson County. The state prison shouldn't really be a problem with where you would be located in Bellvue. Bellvue is part of Davidson County/Nashville. The public school system in Davidson County is not rated very well but there are some good schools in different areas. If your children went to a Christian school as you indicated then the public schools may be a moot point.

If you are going to send your kids to a Christian school then Bellevue is a great place to live. But, Hillwood is terrible, remember the gang issues they were having there 2 or3 years ago? There were parents having fistfights at the board meeting...

Greatschools.net gives Hillwood a 4, Gower a 3 out of 10.

In your price range you could live in Franklin or Spring Hill for better public schools. I don't know much about Hendersonville but I've heard its better as well.

If you guys think Hillwood is awful, what is the criteria for a school to be good? Just curious, because Hillwood graduates a lot of bright students every year. As do Overton, Hunters Lane, Hillsboro, etc. In fact, I think that the top 10% from those schools compare favorably to the top 10% from Williamson County schools. It's the bottom 50% where the difference is probably more noticeable.
