Summit Medical Center-Hermitage
Potential job at Summit Medical Center in Hermitage, TN. Any advice on where to live in the area? Have one high school age son. Would like to pay $500,000 or less.

I don't keep with the real estate prices that much, but $500k should get you just about any house on the market in Hermitage. I don't live in that area so I can't answer your other questions.

If you want to live in Hermitage look at the south side of I-40 around the Percy Priest Lake area and off of South Mt. Juliet Rd. I live here and love it with nice people, rural setting, and close to shopping, medical facilities (Dr’s, Summit Medical etc) and large lots. Since you have a School age child I would consider Mt. Juliet or look for Private Schools. Most but not all Metro Schools have problems.

i live near mt juliet. its a somewhat spreadout town of around 20k-25k, but theres plenty of rural areas if thats what youre looking for. but it might be the best option for you. the school system is much better then metro davidson county, its only a 5 mile drive on I-40 from summit (and its near the interstate), and theres a high school ive been to many times thats simply mt juliet high school (i work summers for the school system, and i visit many of the countys schools), and its not bad. its large, like 2 stories, but can still find your way around easily. theyre building another one though. its farther away from the interstate, closer to highway 70, but as ive heard its going to be huge. as far as i know housing isnt too expensive, so 500k can get you a pretty nice house. and nashville will only be like 20 miles away so you have big city stuff nearby. id definitely look into it

My son was born at Summit 7 years ago...and we lived in Hermitage for a few years after...loved the area...many conveniences and even more now. With your price range, you won't have any problem finding a home there, but you should definitely check into the schools for both Davidson and Wilson counties...Hermitage is Davidson County, but you can go a bit further east and cross the Wilson County line into Old Hickory and Mt. Juliet...try this site for more info on the schools: SCHOOLS
