Can I fit in Nashville?
I'm 26, male CPA from East Lansing, Michigan. Not religious and not into country music (I don't I hate it). Can you still find fun nightlife within walking distance from housing, with mid-20s people that doesn't involve line-dancing?

No offense intended but I've BEEN to Lansing, MI, you're more likely to go line dancing than I am.
We moved here from NYC. We don't go to church. We've never even SEEN line dancing. I do like a few country singers these days though.

I'll have to agree with the above posts. With a metro population of nearly 1.5 million, you'll be able to find anything to dance to similar people to hang out with.
P.S. I don't even live in Tenn., (yet) but visit Nashville once a year.

The short and simple answer: Yes, you can fit in and find things to do even if you don't like country music and don't go to church every Sunday (I don't).
You will hear about country music from time to time however since it's a major "industry" here.

Welcome to Nashville. I grew up in East Lansing and loved the place. I left when I was 18, so pinball petes, el azteco, and curious book store where the centers of my entertainment life. What did you do there for nightlife? Go to a bar? Plenty of that here, and with more free live music. Without knowing more about what you are into, it’s hard to know if Nashville would work for you. Nashville does have a certain flavor. More people go to church than in East Lansing and they are quicker to talk about Christianity, but they bend over backwards to make others feel welcome. (I’m Jewish.) Half the people who work in coffee houses are trying to make it in the music business, which I think gives the city character.

It runs in cycles, but there's been quite a few negative posts about Nashville lately (no, I'm not complaining about them being posted; as long as someone is civil and honest, I have no problem with anyone's post even if they disagree with my opinion). Still, as one of the natives, it's kind of nice to hear a positive one.

don't know anything about MI but...
I just moved from the greater Nashville area to the Charlotte, NC area. I lived 4 years in Nashville (Hendersonville to be exact) and I hated every single minute of it. I'm originally from Brooklyn, NY which could possibly be one of the major reasons why - but I left Brooklyn because I wanted out of the BIGGER city anyway. THAT wasn't what I hated about TN. Tennessee simply sucks. The people are overall generally stupid, slow, hillbillies and they can't drive. Worst drivers I've ever seen. Anyway, I dont know if I'm really expecting Charlotte to be any better - but we'll see.

Well, we certainly hate you to see you go . . . our loss, North Carolina's gain. Tell 'em hi over there in the NC forum.

Actually there was a story on the news a few weeks ago that the truck drivers association voted middle tennessee as the place with the most courteous drivers. You would think that they would know driving the "big rigs" all over the place.
I hope you find what you are looking for in Charlotte.
