Default Maybe moving to TN, have questions.

Hi all,

We are currently in central New Jersey and I now have job offers in Tennessee (near Nashville) and North Carolina (near Greenville). I've gone over numerous posts of each and although each place seems very nice when we went on the interview trips, I think that the long term picture is better TN.

I've looked at some of the data at school websites for public versus private schools around Lebanon. Anyone have any input on how good Christian private schools are? Do they tend to provide a balanced view of sorts, or only Creationism?

I've been to a lot of places (Army brat and in the Army myself) and I think that I actually want to find a place where I can call home... based on the posts I've seen, this is nigh impossible on the first try, but I've got to start somewhere. I'm keeping an open mind on things... Who knows? I may hit the relocation jackpot.

Hi largee22,
I thought you might get more, better answers if you started your own thread so moved it here for you. Hope it helps.

I am fairly certain that you will find nothing in the way of "balanced views" in anything that is considered "Christian" here.

There is really only one kind of "Christianity" here and that is the "born again", evangelical variety.

If you come from New Jersey (I am from NY and I am a Christian) then I have a feeling you will not be used to this brand of Christianity. And if you are hoping to find "balanced views" or (God forbid) something other than creationism taught in Christian schools here, unfortunately yo might be in for a shocker.

This is the heart of the Bible Belt.
Do a Google search for "Joel Osteen" or "Pastor Alan Jackson" or better yet, a YouTube search, and you will probably learn everything you need to know about what kind of education your child will get in a Christian school here.

We live in Lebanon and when talking about private schools most people rave about the Friendship Christian School as the best choice in Wilson County--especially if your child is sports oriented. My friend sent 3 of her 5 to private schools so I can ask her tomorrow what her input is if you want.

My kids are in public school for now until I can decide if there is a need for private schools. I do not want them to go backwards from where they were in Georgia.

The other school I hear a lot about is Middle Tennessee Christian School in Murfreesboro. Depending on where you are in Lebanon it is not that far away--it is only about 15 for us.

Hope this helps.

My cousins are some of the teachers at Friendship Christian....I hear it's a good school from several sources and I don't even live near there.

Default We changed our minds

Thanks MB mouse.

Although, it's not necessary now. We decided on moving to NC. Appreciate the help.

We moved to the Nashville area a few weeks ago. We like it so far and the school system is excellent! People seem so much more friendly here!
