I wondered that as well.

Sometimes these (apparently rare) people talked about Tennessee in the same way as Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, etc. These people seemed to think of the "east coast" as we do, the "south" as the deep south, and the "midwest" as that whole area of states that are just totally random but not quite east coast. (Tennessee, Kentucky, Akransas, Missouri, Illinois, etc) It is what it is though. N. Cal said in 25 years she (is it she?) never heard it once, yet I heard it more than a couple times in far less time. Maybe it's kinda like when people post on here that it seems the "religion" culture of Nashville seeps into their daily life or work life but as someone who grew up here I can honestly say that's never been an issue with me. To each their own experiences I guess.

I question a list that has St. Louis in the South and the Peacemaker Lobster & Crab as St. Louis's representative on the list. I don't think that restaurant would be in the top 25 in St. Louis. Uh...Niche perhaps by James Beard Award winner Gerard Craft?

I consider Southern Missouri in the South, but not St. Louis.

That's kind of crazy. Peacemaker Lobster & Crab is nothing to write home about. Nothing about St. Louis is southern accept some of the transplants.
