Is there crime in those specific counties, are they not considered upscale? What gives?

I for one have no problem saving some $$$ if I can get the same stuff in another town or county....LOL.
The schools are good in those areas. Murfreesboro would be the least costly in those areas as they have new homes selling for $135,000. You will not find that in Williamson County.
Now, it also depends where you work.If a longer commute for you is acceptable or if you have a job near the mentioned areas. My husband did not want to deal with traffic and long comutes, so live 25 min from where he works. I live in Nashville, where it border with Brentwood. He did long commutes too much in his life, as much as 2 hours each way.

link? I can't believe it outshines Charleston SC or Roswell type Atlanta burbs...or North Carolina's Ballentine....no way....>>

Actually, it is easy to see why Williamson County has a higher median household income and per capita income than the areas you menion, because those areas are nowhere close to being entire counties. The wealthy areas in Charleston are primarily in Charleston County, which also contains a lot of the poor inner city areas. Roswell and other wealthy close-in Atlanta areas such as Sandy Springs are still in Fulton County, and once again there are a lot of inner city areas to bring the numbers down. I have never even heard of Ballentine, but after researching found that it is located in Wake County, NC, population of probably about 700,000K, and that area had a population of 6. Can't really compare that to an entire county.

Williamson County is all suburban (Nashville is not in this county). Davidson County has areas as wealthy or wealther than Williamson, but its income numbers are of course way lower because it still is part of a metropolitan county that contains income levels of all variations.

true, but the affluent areas in Davidson county seem to be older (buildings and houses are older and/or more dense), and they suffer somewhat from proximity to poor areas (crime and bad schools)
