Can anyone please give me some everyday pro's and con's of living in either Hendersonville or Mt. Juliet? Anyone have any in-sites to the differences between middle Tennessee and upstate NY? I'm looking to moving there for many reasons but mostly I want a change. The cost of living in upstate is just to much and I am tired of all around rudeness and atmosphere here. I really want to have a more laid back, friendly place to raise my kids. Thanks for any info or comments you can give...moving is such a big decision.

Both locations are excellent places to raise your kids. They both offer great schools, both ares are close to the lake, and right now both Mt. Juliet and Hendersonville is booming with more restaurants and homes going up.

Will you be working in the downtown area? If so, the only draw back is that it is 15 - 20 miles from downtown and with with rush hour traffic, sometimes it will take an hour to commute.

Mount Juliet is closer to the Nashville airport. Not close enough to be bothered with the noise, but close enough to get there in just a few minutes.

Hendersonville is right ON a lake, whereas Mount Juliet is CLOSE to a lake.

I think they're both very desirable suburbs of a great city.

If you're looking for a friendly and family-friendly place to live, Nashville is a GREAT choice!

Where you work will play a big part in your choice of location, so if you don't mind sharing, it will help us help you better!

I'm a bartender and waitress so any place that has a a few bars/ restaurants works for me. My husband usually works a 3rd shift and will look into a transfer with his company, he knows how far and how of a commute it would be to his job and neither place is an issue as far as him getting to work (he likes to drive but both places are less then an hour)

Are these lakes we could swim in? Do they have a sandy beach?

irreplaceable, The lake is used for lots of water sports including swimming. I don't know of any sandy beaches but that doesn't mean there aren't any, it just means I don't know of them. We have a houseboat so we just anchor out and swim. I do know that there are a number of beautiful parks on the lake but I haven't taken the time to know what the ammenities are.

I live in mt juliet and wud hence favor mt juliet over hendersonville.
Though honestly, you cant go wrong with either communities.
They are both good places to live with great schools.
The one reason i wud favor mt juliet over hendersonville is the commute ( though there mite be some who live up there that wud disagree)
GL!!!

The two lakes are fed by different river systems. This is just my opinion, but I think Old Hickory is a great lake to boat or fish or look out upon, not the best for swimming, although many people do, I suppose. Percy Priest is probably better for things like sailboating, swimming, that sort of thing. Priest is just a little cleaner.

Of course, neither of them are like pristine mountain lakes since they are fed by river systems.

If someone from Hendersonville wants to disagree with me, I won't argue. They probably know Old Hickory better than I do.
